If there’s one thing we absolutely love doing while on vacation, it is spending time at the pool.

While we’ve always enjoyed big, bustling hotel pools, the infinity pool at Alila Villas Uluwatu left us speechless, it gave us a chance to float over the Indian Ocean. The pool itself hangs on top of a cliff and I can guarantee you that swimming here isn’t a casual affair – you’ll notice it in the highly addictive Instagram pictures.

Straddling the edge of a cliff was even more spectacular at sunset as the tides changed – I recommend you to first enjoy a few drinks at the Sunset Cabana Bar before you drop by the pool for a prolonged swim if you want to catch every colour change the sky has to offer.

What’s more, every villa category here also comes with a private pool too. I have to say that this is one of the most romantic stays we’ve experienced so far. The staff was exceptional too; there’s nothing they can’t solve and you can be sure that you’ll never go hungry throughout the day as breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner options are remarkable!

Ubud might not be your first thought when you think of stunning infinity pools but Padma Resort Ubud has one of the best we’ve been to so far! They feature one remarkable 89-metre long heated infinity pool where you get to pretend you’re at an oasis in the middle of the jungle!

The resort is far enough away to be a true oasis after a day of sightseeing around the muddy paddy fields of Ubud ​but it’s also still intimately located in the lush jungles so you get to take in the magical green views from the room, pool or restaurant!

We visited once and thoroughly enjoyed swimming up to the lip of the pool in the morning. As the sun rises, golden rays set the spectacle by piercing through the dense bamboo forest ahead of you as the pool gets steam-coated.

We’d also recommend you to carry on with their indulgent (read; Insta-worthy too) floating breakfast in the lower pool. And if you feel like it’s too early to go fancy, why not consider their floating afternoon tea?

During peak seasons, it is almost impossible to secure a room at The Kayon Jungle Resort but there are obvious reasons for that. The resort is simply spectacular. It is not difficult to see why it is so popular on social media either – look at this stunning view across the valley and their fabulous main pool that is tiered over three levels, presumably mimicking the rice terraces for which Ubud is famous for.

The property takes full advantage of the natural abundance and the best part yet is that it is an adults-only resort (no kids allowed!) so you can peacefully take in all of the jungle sounds!

The surroundings are on par with some of the bigger chain hotels over on the Sayan Ridge. The only thing is that the resort is pretty far from the main tourist attractions. However, they do provide a complimentary shuttle to take you to Ubud Central, which makes it very convenient if you are planning to explore!

To say the least, the resort was deemed as “easily the best part of an entire trip to Bali” by several guests! We’ve also heard that there’s nothing the team at The Kayon can’t solve. Replace the coke in your minibar with coke light? Consider it done! Prefer croissant to toast? Also possible!

10. Sleep with the lions – Mara River Safari Lodge, Gianyar

One of the best things about Mara River Safari Lodge, is the infinity pool with a view of the rhinos and zebras, and even scampering lion cubs too. Imagine having a lovely soak in the pool, while watching the rhinos and zebras graze together.
