Bringing the entire family out for a meal is not easy.
If there’s elderly folks, the place should be quiet and comfortable enough, and if there are kids, a spacious area would be good for them to run around in, with and attractions to keep them entertained.
So where’s actually good?
We’ve handpicked these family friendly restaurants where the little ones will be kept thoroughly entertained, while you can dine in peace, and still keep an eye on them at the same time!
1. Dine aboard a pirate ship – Pisnis Resto
Ever heard of Legok Kondang’s Pisnis Resto? A new discovery we’ve found, the Pisnis Resto is on a giant ship docked beside the lake and surrounded with gorgeous mountain views.
The kids will be ecstatic to climb aboard the ship and have one of the most unforgettable dining experiences ever. Serving up a BBQ feast, Pisnis Resto is a great place to bond with the family while feasting and play acting as pirates!
PS: Pisnis Resto is located in family glamping site Legok Kondang, do call ahead to make a reservation if you’d like to dine here!2. Have a fun and cosy beanbag family lunch to amazing views – Lereng Anteng

Get seated in colourful beanbag chairs, and enjoy the refreshingly cool weather and misty mountain views. Up on the menu, choose from local favourites ranging from Indonesian to Sundanese fare. As for coffee, you might be happy to hear that Vietnamese Drip coffee is available here too!

4. Family fun with strawberries at Rumah Stroberi
What comes to mind when you hear “Strawberry House” (Rumah Strowberi)? A strawberry-shaped house? A house full of strawberry?
You’re not far from your guess!
Rumah Stroberi Restaurant is located in the highlands of Bandung, in Lembang, only 45 minutes’ drive away from the city.
This is a beautiful place with lots of opportunities for kids to have fun – running in the garden, picking strawberries (I’ve visited the place several times and the strawberries were always run out though, so you may want to check with the restaurant first if you want to pick strawberries).

Try the Nasi Liwet – it’s Nasi Uduk (rice cooked in coconut milk) combined with bay leaf and baked in a pot to give you grilled flavor – so yummy you can just eat the rice alone.
5. Dining on the hills: Burgundy Wine and Dine
Although a little out of the way, Burgundy Wine and Dine is not that difficult to find, all you can do is you have to take Jalan Dago Atas as though you’re going to Lembang, and along the way, you’ll find many signages that will lead you to Burgundy – a nice place to have lunch or dinner.

While you are there, try the Nachos for a start – we’ll say it’s one of the best in Bandung.
Burgundy is divided into 2 areas – indoors and outdoors.
The indoor area is a vintage house that hasn’t been altered much from its original design – a leftover from the Colonial era in Bandung.
You can sit there and enjoy your steak while imagining that you’re living in the golden era.
The outdoor area has a breathtaking view, and if you’re lucky, you will be able to see dewy trees from above, and in the sunlight, you’ll be able to see gleaming views of the city.

And your kids will have fun at the little playground and animal statues. They will probably run around in the spacious garden till they are hungry!

No need to worry though, because it’s in the safe area, the parking lot is also separate from the garden.
6. Cosy dining at home: Miss Bee Providore
Known as one of Bandung’s favorite restaurant and located in the highlands, Miss Bee offers beautiful scenery and scrumptious food.
You may actually feel like you’re dining at your grandmother’s house – warm and homey with beautiful interior design.
The outdoor area is a kids’ haven – they can run around as they like in the spacious garden.

7. Kids’ dreams come true at Treehouse Cafe
Yes, you’ve read correctly.
Here’s a treehouse – the one in every child’s dream.
Photo via: JoTravelguide
Better yet for all parents – it’s a treehouse with a cafe where you can sit down and relax in a cosy corner, either indoors or outdoors, while the kids are kept perfectly safe, busy, and happy clamouring around their actual tree house.
This cafe even has a mini flying fox, so don’t worry if your hyperactive kids are bored by the treehouse!
Here, the specialty meal is also a kid’s favourite – sausages. Parents will approve of it too, as they are healthy homemade sausages with no artificial flavoring – just like this Big Banger Sausage (30cm long!) which is served with vegetables.

Here, you can get good quality Indonesian food.
You may wanna try the Mie Kocok, which is almost as authentic as the one you find at the hawkers. Or Gado-gado (Indonesian Salad) – tossed with fresh and quality vegetables.

You might have heard about Dusun Bambu.
It’s probably one of the most talked-about venue in Bandung. Why? Because not only are there tons of recreational activities you can do there, but it has three amazing restaurants where you can dine at with the most gorgeous views.
Located in Lembang, around 45 minutes’ drive from Bandung, Dusun Bambu has a mountain view cafe called Burangrang, a birdcage restaurant called Lutung Kasarung and this Sundanese resto called Purbasari, where you can dine by the lake.
If you’re into well-designed cafés and want to enjoy views of the Burangrang mountain, together with both Western and Indonesian cuisine, Burangrang is perfect for you.
When it’s getting dark, a torch will warm up the café and give some spark to your dinner area.
You can also choose to dine in a gigantic bird cage positioned on the top of tree (you don’t have to climb, and it’s actually easy for you to reach) at Lutung Kasarung. To rent Lutung Kasarung you have to pay around IDR 100,000 (less than USD $10).
And if you’re into good quality Sundanese Food, why don’t you try Saung Purbasari, where you can have lunch at a traditional house located right by the lake.
If you just want to get some snacks like Siomay, Baso (meat ball), Dimsum, Mie Godhok (Javanese Noodle), Sate Ayu (Javanese Skewers) etc, do drop by Pasar Khatulistiwa. You can also buy fresh vegetables and fruit there.
And we’ll tell you why Dusun Bambu is perfect for your family – there’s various outdoor activities for children, such as horseback riding, archery, riding becak (Indonesian rickshaw) and many more.
And guess what? You can also go camping there – now that makes your family getaway complete.

10. Vintage dining and good food: Waroeng Ethnic
This restaurant is in the same neighborhood as Miss Bee. Also located around an exclusive area in Bandung and built in a vintage house, you will feel warm and welcome when you step in through the door.
Kids will love the mini playground and the pool. The pool is actually not for swimming, but doesn’t have fish too, so the children can always just play with the water – don’t they just love doing that?
Waroeng Ethnic is a restaurant that puts a lot of thought into the food they serve. Personally, I have come several times and the food has never failed me – regardless of whether it’s Western or Indonesian cuisine, they’re all great.
