Did you know? Bali isn’t the only place around with some incredible accommodation spots (and super affordable ones at that)!

Cue Jogja, or Yogyakarta as it’s synonymously referred to, the historic city located on the island of Java, and known somewhat as a cultural hub in Indonesia – today the city is home to many local and international students studying arts, languages, history, etc, and so it’s seen the city bustling with a plethora of trendy hotspots and things to do.

Hopping on the bandwagon as it’s gained in popularity, Jogja has really upped its game when it comes to accommodation and we were pretty blown away by some of the stays and guess what, we’re talking about private pool villas here too – and a few of them at that!

Check out some of the affordable villas we’ve stumbled upon, perfect for group stays, or just ones for a pair of lovers…

1. A gorgeous stay typical of modern Indonesian design, perfect for a group of friends! — Sun Moon Star Villas

A completely private, three bedroom villa, with a huge pool overlooking rice fields, as well as your own garden for chilling, or entertaining – hello evening BBQ!

Step inside the property and you’re greeted by bright Bougainvillea fleurs, palm trees and even a Lotus pond! Following the pretty exteriors, the interiors are just gorgeous and we love the mix or raw and natural materials they’ve adopted in the design aesthetic!

The kitchen and living area has been combined into one separate building, in an open-air space (love!) and the bedrooms you’ll find in the other two buildings, three bathrooms included.

The villa is cleaned daily, and an à la carte breakfast is served daily, included in the overall rate, so do enjoy the daily morning feast!

3. Colourful, modern and fun with the ocean right in front of you — Radika Paradise Villa & Cottage

On the hunt for something a little unusual / are you the type of traveller that enjoys a place with interesting design?

Totally on the geometrical side of things, if you’re after a property that not only lends itself to being your very own private pool villa, but that’s got an ocean view too, no need to look any further.

We love their take on a bit of funky design, and there’s some really cool architectural titbits to be discovered around the property.

They actually have six different villas and cottages available, all within the same property – we’d recommend booking their Two Bedroom Villa with Private Pool and ocean views!

4. “There’s no place like home” feels — Villa Arusha

Private apartment? It sure seems like it, however this is not to be confused with your private villa actually!

Villa Arusha feels more like a home than anything else, and they’ve certainly styled and designed it this way – down to the last details (we love all the artwork around the house and key eye for design, so here’s a shoutout to whomever the decorator happens to be).

From the living room to the kitchen, you’ll find each room in the house is open and spacious, plus filled with everything and anything that you need – there’s even a reading room for goodness sake!
