Egyptian cotton sheets and fluffy bathrobes are all rather wonderful, but it’s an eye-poppingly amazing pool that really lets you know you’re in high-priced paradise.

Many resorts offer day passes for non-staying guests, giving you access to the pool, and often other amenities as well. We’ve dipped our toes in at Bali’s top-end resorts to show you the best places to soak up their poolside luxury for a day.

Seminyak and Kuta Pool Day Pass

1. Cocktails and chill vibes at glamorous Woobar – The W Bali – Seminyak

Bold, beautiful and dripping with bling, Seminyak’s hippest hotel is a magnet for the well-heeled and glamorous. The location is smack bang on the sands of Seminyak, but the most impressive water view here is the incredible three-tiered pool inspired by Bali’s terraced rice paddies.

Spanning over 1,790sqm, surrounded by lush tropical palms and sundecks, it’s the setting for glorious sunsets and W’s sizzling music and fashion events.

The Woobar is the W’s poolside bar where you can grab a cocktail and have a little refresher. The sun lounges and chairs around the pool are reserved for in-house guests, but you can always sink into a sofa at the Woobar to enjoy the tropical vibes and resident DJ beats.

Do call in advance to book a sofa at the Woobar. The in-house DJs can usually be found sending out chill vibes from 1pm until late.

2. A secluded spot to unwind away from the masses: Peppers Seminyak

If you’re itching to spend your day lazying poolside at one of Seminyak’s hotels, but aren’t so keen on the whole massive resort vibes (where there are more guests fighting for space than a fully loaded tour bus), Peppers Seminyak could be right up your alley!

Forget about hotel rooms or suites. All the accommodation options here are private villas with their very own pool. However, with a day pass, you’ll be dipping your toes into the main pool!

Grab a lounger under the Balinese sun, or there are covered sections under the natural (architecturally-inspiring) curving roof dotted with outdoor sofas. From here, order a bite from The Laneway Restaurant – a fine dining establishment inspired by the flavours of Asia and Italia!

Travelling with kiddies? Leave the hubby or wifey in charge and treat yourself to an unwinding session at Spa at Peppers Seminyak, taking advantage of that Pool Pass discount! Or, zen out with a yoga class, meditation and even sound bowl healing (reservation required 24 hours in advance).

3. Modern tranquility at the edge of the world – LV8 Resort Hotel

Vue Beach Club is located in LV8 Resort and Hotel, a wonderful modern hotel in Canggu, which has a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

4. 500 Feet-high clifftop bar with a glass-bottomed infinity pool – One Eighty

What’s bringing clifftop infinity pools to a different level?

A crystal blue glass-bottomed infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, that stretches all the way out from the cliff 500 feet high, creating a gravity-defying concrete-encased lagoon with a million-dollar view – the highlight of One Eighty, a new sophisticated bar and restaurant that’s a recent addition to The Edge Villas at Uluwatu.

Apart from the VIP deck, choose your day pass seating (when booking) among the sky lounge or sand lounge, and certain areas are off-limits to children.

5. The longest beachfront infinity pool on the island – Sundara Bali, Four Seasons Jimbaran

The Sundara is Jimbaran’s most famous playground for the rich, the famous and the pleasure-seeking. A sultry beach club and home to one of Bali’s best restaurants, it also plays host to a world-class spa and the longest beachfront infinity pool on the island at an epic 57 metres.

The pool runs right alongside the beach with just a sliver of sand between them. Day guests and their families are welcome to dine in the beachfront bar/restaurant, and you can drop the kids off at the Umah Rare Kids Club.

Sundara’s chic and spacious double day beds are stretched out along the pool overlooking the spectacular curve of Jimbaran Bay.

Be sure to call and book your daybeds in advance. After a few lazy laps, stick around for mind-melting sunsets and live music entertainment from Bali’s top indie artists.

6. 5 amazing pools including a traditional Balinese fountain pool! – InterContinental Bali Resort

The InterContinental Bali Resort boasts not just one, but five swimming pools (plus one private Club Pool for guests) spread across acres of magnificently landscaped gardens.

The stunning Main Pool at 35 metres long never gets too crowded, surrounded by a garden-fringed terrace lined with plenty of sun beds, and of course the ever-handy Pool Bar at the water’s edge.

There’s also the secluded Balinese Bath Pool with its sculpted stone walls and water spouts, a traditional Balinese-inspired Fountain Pool and two supervised kids’ Fun Pools.

If you do make your way down to InterContinental Bali Resort, treat yourselves to great food at the in-house restaurants – from the award-winning KO Japanese Restaurant to Italian fine dining at Bella Cucina, and fresh seafood off the extensive menu at Jimbaran Gardens.

Naturally, hit up Sunset Beach Bar & Grill for pitchers of sangria, cocktails and beer; and while you’re there, don’t miss out on The Gelato Counter’s chillingly good gelato.

Tip: The staff recommend calling up ahead of time, but walk-ins are usually accepted. Guest passes can be purchased from the leisure concierge in the lobby.

7. Food, fresh greenery, and soaking in the pool – Royal Tulip Springhill Resort Jimbaran

The swimming pool at this resort is in the middle of the hotel, overlooking a vast valley of green trees. Rows of chaise lounges are lined up around the pool ready to be a place to relax while sunbathing.

Not only is there an adult pool, but also a special children’s pool complete with sandy areas where they can play as if they were on the beach!

Surrounding the pool, you’ll find the bar which not only serves up great cocktails, but a variety of different cuisines for you to sample, from Asian to Mediterranean.

Because of its location near Jimbaran, this hotel is a very fitting place to relax after the heat you’ll experience at Garuda Wisnu Kencana.

8. Prime sunsets, swim up bars and infinity pools: Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort & Spa

Nothing screams “I’m in Bali” more than a 4-star resort … smack bang on a beachfront facing the Indian Ocean, the sun setting gently over the horizon.

Plus, not only is the Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort a wonderful option to spend your day chilling and frolicking in its guest pool, but this resort has some epic facilities that day visitors can feel free to make use of too, such as its Raga Gym, Lotus Spa, Wine Lounge and two on-site restaurants.

But down to the business that matters most. Catch up on some reading on a comfy lounger around the main swimming pool and sundeck. Its swim-up bar ensures no guest is ever thirsty, busting out delish cocktails!

(If the sunshine has left your skin exasperated, there’s even a cucumber eye cooling station!)

But wait, the splish-splashing doesn’t end there. Make your way up to the resort’s Art Deco-inspired Rooftop Bar, reminiscent of a traditional Jimbaran fishing village. Our favourite position is the sun loungers placed in a narrow, low rooftop infinity pool where you can cool off your feet.

Order a round and drink in the panoramas from up here, overseeing the whole of Jimbaran Bay. In the mornings, local fishermen are hard at work, and it’s an exciting moment seeing what catch of the day they bring in, freshly caught and off to the iconic Kedonganan Fish Market.

9. Chill amongst the clouds – Wanna Jungle Pool Bar at The Kayon Jungle Resort by Pramana

Nothing’s better than an adults-only spot to enjoy groovy music with your lover, with no nagging kiddos to ruin the mood!

Head over to Wanna Jungle Pool & Bar (at The Kayon Jungle Resort) for one of the best Pool Day Passes in Bali, experiencing everything a beach club has to offer – except that instead of the beach, you get to chill in the middle of Ubud’s majestic rainforest, amidst stunning architecture and a 3-tiered pool to match!

Is it just us or can you notice the striking resemblance the structure has to Ubud’s Tegalalang Rice Terrace? It was modeled after the natural beauty, after all …

The various levels of three cascades have a selection of covered cabanas and one-of-a-kind circular seating pods built smack bang in the middle of the pools. Pool 1 has 56 seats, pool 2 with 17 and pool 3 with 18, and in case you need a break from the sun, there are also 43 indoor seats.

Grab your partner and enjoy a fun date swaying to the performances of their live DJs (latest schedule on their website below)! Or lap up the sounds of live music every Monday and Thursday.

Wanna Jungle runs some fab drinks specials, like Happy Hour (daily from 11am to 3pm), beer buckets, craft specials and free flow drafts for two hours.

P.S. Guests older than 15 years old are allowed entry, but those younger or any visitors with limited mobility are restricted from entering.

10. An all inclusive package that incites a magical feeling – Kamandalu Ubud Hotel

Despite being famous for the luxurious rooms and experiences available to guests that choose to stay overnight with them, Kamandalu doesn’t close its doors to those guests who don’t stay the night.

Perched in the middle of both the jungle and rice fields, you can take advantage of the serenity of this location using a day pass! Lounge in the pool where you can listen to the birds sing as you shoo away any of your worries.

There are three pools here, but unfortunately only one can be used by outside guests, namely the Awana Pool and Lounge. The pool package will give you full access to it, as well as a light meal and two drinks for you and your lucky plus one!

11. Swim at the infinite edge of a tropical jungle – Jungle Fish

Be prepared to be stunned by the amazing views of the jungle while you take a swim in a clear turquoise infinity pool, right on its edge.

Nestled in Ubud, Jungle Fish is a one-of-a-kind jungle bar that offers you the most lush green views of the rainforest. This is the chance for all you water babies to return to your natural habitat!

Guess what, they actually call themselves the “no beach… beach club” – you have the mandatory pool, swim-up bar and lounge decks, just not the sand and sea! Funky tunes constantly fill the air, setting the mood.

Well, who needs the beach when you are a forest sprite?

Entrance is free but with a minimum spend per person (which varies depending on whether you opt to sit at the dining tables or daybeds, etc.), and you have full access to their the pool and other facilities.

If you are in the mood for a meal, order from the poolside restaurant with views of the emerald Osh River Valley and beyond. The whole atmosphere here takes you out of this world!

Good to know: Jungle Fish is child-friendly, but kids need to be under adult supervision at all times!

12. Melt into crystal healing waters – Mansion Wellness

Despite being the Island of the Gods, sometimes visitors to Bali forget to connect with the soul, they’re too busy partying, trying to capture each moment, and exploring as much as possible.

Not to say that there’s anything wrong with any of those activities, but sometimes, we need to look after the soul.

At Mansion Wellness’ Crystal Blue Pool, the water is filtered through crystal blue structure units which give the water a special type of energy, enhancing the water’s vibration to the next level.

A sliver of an infinity edge pool which goes from an intoxicating emerald colour on Ubud’s misty mornings to sapphire blue in the afternoon sun, it gives the appearance of overhanging the plummeting valley below soaking up panoramic views of Ubud’s lush, forested hillsides.

The Alila pool is generally a guests-only indulgence in high season, but if you come here for afternoon tea, you’ll be given complimentary access to Alila’s world famous mountainside swimming spot.

14. Couples, escape the crowds: Athaya Ubud

No matter the time of year, Athaya’s long rectangular jungle guest pool is always open … Even in the evenings, it’s lit up by a warm glow, and the year-rounder is totally appreciated in Bali’s never-ending humidity.

A sweet wooden deck/boardwalk surrounds the entire pool, scattered in beanbags, loungers and classic Balinese umbrellas. As a boutique hotel, it has a rather intimate setting.

If you’ve spent the morning exploring Ubud, end it off at Athaya thanks to its convenient location close to many must-see attractions, such as the Ubud Monkey Forest, Elephant Cave and the famous Ubud Market.

Worked up an appetite? Refuel at the on-site restaurant situated next door to the pool area, so you can move in between the two, easy peasy.

Incorporating natural ingredients sourced from native florals, its Manis Spa is also open.

15. Spend the day by Bali’s best beaches – Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa

16. Get treated to a stylish dose of family fun – Club Med Bali

Club Med is synonymous with family fun, and their beachfront Nusa Dua arm is true to their philosophy, with an added sprinkling of Balinese style and hospitality.

The resort sits on 24 acres of manicured gardens, dotted with tropical palms and day beds, meandering down to the water’s edge.

There’s a huge, sparkling main pool with boardwalks, lounge decks, the Kintamani Pool Bar and the enormous Agung Restaurant right in the middle of the pool, serving delicious dishes and colourful cocktails alfresco on the pool deck.

Club Med specialises in treating day guests to the same level of service, so you won’t find like an outsider or an impostor.

There are two passes available, a Day Pass from 10am to 6pm, and a Night Pass from 6pm to midnight.

The day pass includes lunch and drinks at the bar and gives you the opportunity to discover activities such as yoga, trapeze, windsurfing and tennis. The night pass includes dinner and drinks at the bar accompanied by live entertainment.

Tip: Club Med’s day passes are extremely popular, so be sure to book at least 24 hours in advance.

17. Access the incredible interconnected pools and private beach – Hilton Bali Resort

One of the most luxurious beach resorts in Nusa Dua, the elegant Hilton Bali Resort’s claim to fame are its incredible island and ocean views – perched at the top of a 40-metre cliff towering above a secluded white sand beach.

The sprawling, landscaped grounds of the Hilton Bali Resort encompass a jaw-dropping series of four interconnected pools, crisscrossed by gardens, sculptures and bridges. There’s also a separate children’s lagoon and a 30-metre-long water slide.

Hilton Bali Resort offers a special pass for non-hotel guests.

It gives you access to the resort’s four pools and private beach, 30-meter waterslide, water activities and access to the Jungle Camp and Kids Club for children under 12 (for an additional charge) and indoor tennis courts.

Comfy poolside cabanas are available for rent, or hang ten on one of the loungers.

Tip: To get your Day in Paradise, ask at the Tour Desk counter on arrival.

18.  If you’re looking for a whole new way to spend your Sunday family day: The Apurva Kempinski Bali

Good luck trying to draw yourselves away from The Apurva’s Reef Beach Club (one of our personal favourites thanks to its exclusive beachfront setting).

Start your indulgence with a round of drinks (or coffee) before you get to dip in their 42-meter-long infinity pool to shake off your morning sleepiness.

Feeling at one with the ocean, chill out for the day on one of the whimsical cabanas dotted around the pool, or there are sun loungers scattered across the sands for all you sunkissed seekers.

As the day goes by, take part in some thrilling watersport activities – kayaking, paddleboard and more – which are just a hop, skip and a jump away from your sun bed!

It is a whole lot of fun that awaits at The Apurva Kempinski Bali as you get to enjoy world-class facilities with your family for a whole day!

End your day with live entertainment at the rooftop bar, overlooking the vast ocean located in front of the resort. The sunsets from this location are next level!

Then, for dinner, something special awaits. Watch out for Bali’s first aquarium restaurant, Koral Restaurant, where fine dining is taken to a different level!

19.  Lavish days by the pool, sun, sand and sea – Conrad Bali

Pampering is the name of the game at Conrad Bali, and the luxury isn’t just for hotel guests.

We’re sure your first stop will be the pool, and we don’t blame you.

After all, the only thing better than a massive pool is Conrad Bali’s massive oceanfront pool! You can simply lounge the day away in the pool and watch the sun set over the sea. Thanks to its size, it won’t feel overcrowded even on a busy day.

20.  A touch of blue to soothe your worries – The Sakala Resort Bali

This resort in the Tanjung Benoa area carries a modern concept with a touch of Balinese magic.

Once you set foot here, your eyes will be spoiled by the blue color everywhere, all of which are so soothing. Not to mention the rest of your surroundings, starting from the blue sky, the blue pool, and the wonderful blue ocean at the end of Sakala Beach Club.

There are 2 swimming pools here, namely Lagoon and Sakala Beach Club swimming pools. But non-overnight visitors can only use the one at the Beach Club. Not that it’s an issue, in fact, it is the one with direct views of the ocean, and different areas which the kiddos can play in!

If you want to feast, The Sakala Beach Club also has a variety of menu choices suitable for poolside dining.
