Earlier, we brought to you the most stunning places to watch the sunset in Bali. Now we’ve rounded up a list of the most stunning sunrise points around the island.
While we do not necessarily enjoy waking up early (most of us are night owls), we do genuinely enjoy catching a magical sunrise in the morning. In fact, we consider sunrises as new beginnings, a good way to breathe and forget about yesterday!
However, we understand that it isn’t everyone’s forte to wake up early and hike.
Well, if you’re one of those who’d prefer easy-to-reach places to catch sunrise, you’re in luck! Bali is blessed with an array of stunning sunrise spots, from vast paddy fields to the endless ocean and rugged mountain views, where you can relish Mother Nature’s amazing artwork without any hiking!

1. These sunrise viewpoints were made for Instagram! – Desa Sukawana, Kintamani
Love creating Insta-worthy shot from stunning viewpoints? Here’s your chance to level up your IG game! At Desa Sukawana, the photospot here is unbeatable at sunrise hour when the glorious orange ball rises behind the mountain peak – can you hear the likes coming?

If you’re a photography lunatic, you surely have heard of this spectacular viewpoint in Bali. It is one of our personal favourites and it’s not hard to see why. Drop by this sleepy village and look out for the viewpoint (located on the village’s hill) offering killer views of the surroundings, with Mount Batur resting in the backdrop. As the sun rises, you’ll be able to meet with locals and take a glimpse of their daily lifestyle as the village slowly wakes up! If you’re lucky enough, you might also catch the sea of clouds.

3. Have a double treat as you immerse in nature and culture! – Pura Ulun Danau Tamblingan
Start your day at Pura Ulun Danau Tamblingan to be blown away with mystical views of a traditional Balinese temple as the sun gently rises. With the temple being located on the shore of a magical lake, the best way to appreciate its view is by paddling around the lake to watch the sun rays pierce through the towering monuments.

4. Relish on magical views of the fiery Mount Agung volcano! – Bukit Cinta Desa Gelumpang
Make the morning pilgrimage to watch the sunrise from Bukit Cinta Desa Gelumpang and enjoy killer views of the ever-erupting Mount Agung volcano! If you’re in luck, you might even spot the volcano puffing out fumes as you relish from afar, guarded by the surrounding rice paddy fields. As a lesser-known spot, you’ll enjoy intense peacefulness and stillness here.

Why join the pesky crowd at Amed Beach for sunrise when you can explore a hidden spot to enjoy magical views as dawn breaks through? Jemeluk Bay Viewpoint is a great off-the-beaten-path option for you sunrise chasers! From this gorgeous elevated viewpoint, you get to overlook the wide stretch of glistening sand and turquoise water of the bay. As the sun gently rises and clears out the sky, the curtain drops, the show begins – enjoy jaw-dropping views of the majestic Mount Agung painted in beautiful colours.

7. Dare to chase sunrise on the edge of a cliff? – Bukit Asah
For the real daredevils out there, this one is for you! We know we’ve listed easy-to-reach places so far and this one isn’t a challenge either but at least you get that adrenaline rush you’ve been waiting for as you’re set atop a cliff! While you could come over right before the sun rises, we highly recommend you to opt for a camping experience here. Sleep under the stars and wake up to postcard-perfect views in the morning as waves crash against the cliff.

8. Take a romantic sunrise walk amidst lush greenery – Campuhan Ridge Walk
Holidays are rare moments in life when we can ditch alarm clocks in favour of having the sun shine on us… but trust us, the sunrise walk at Campuhan Ridge Walk will be worth the early morning alarm clock you nearly snoozed. This is a beautiful paved walk that is best enjoyed around 6 to 7am, right before the scorching hot sun rises fully. It’s a short trek that can be enjoyed as a romantic date!

9. Tick off this World Heritage Site from your bucket list! – Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
Enjoy fifty shades of green at Jatiluwih Rice Terraces – Bali’s most magical natural UNESCO World Heritage Site is nothing but spectacular at sunrise! The terraces span over a huge area and you can also possibly forget about the crowds of the ever-so-popular Tegallalang rice terrace!

10. Watch the sun peak over the horizon! – Sanur Beach
Sunrise at Sanur Beach is a magical time. The serene sound of the waves perfectly unifies with the view of the fireball peaking over the endless horizon as the stretch of sand gets highlighted with a warm glow from the sun rays. For the best spot (according to a local!), settle near Puri Santrian!*

11. For perfect family memories at a kid-friendly beach – Nusa Dua Beach
Nusa Dua Beach offers marvellous morning views of the rising sun, along with glorious clear blue waters which you can enjoy throughout the day. The area is also popular among families with kids at it features top family resorts! There are also nice affordable spots for breakfast and lunch in the surroundings! We’ve heard sunrise is best enjoyed at the iconic waterblow but we’d recommend you to be extra careful as waves can get strong at times (depending on the tide).

12. Watch the ball of fire rise between traditional Balinese gazebos -– Karang Beach
Karang Beach is an extension of the famous Sanur Beach, the spot is best known for its two iconic Balinese gazebos that seem to be floating over the ocean! Dropping by at sunrise means you get to relish of dazzling views of the fiery orange fireball rising in between the gazebos, right above the mirror-like horizon. It seems like these views were simply made for Instagram!

Not afraid of challenging hikes (count 2-3 hours for this one)? The most magical spot to watch daybreak in Bali is undoubtedly the iconic Mount Batur.
There’s a lot to be said for catching dawn on top of a mountain and Mount Batur is quite the spectacle to catch a morning dose of golden hour, although there might be a crowd as it is ever-so-popular among tourists. The spot is often shrouded in a thick mist first thing in the morning and gives the impression of floating above the clouds.
