Truth be told, if it were up to our children, every school holiday would be spent living it up in Bali, but if – like every other parent – you’re more daunted by the planning process (especially choosing a place to stay) than anything else on the list, you may want to consider our help for picking and choosing the best family beach resorts for your next family getaway in Bali!
There’s no doubt that Bali offers jaw-dropping resorts around its coastline, but not all of them are designed to spark imagination and ignite adventure for kids of all ages, with plenty to offer for Mom and Dad.
In fact, we would only title some areas of the island to be ultimate kid-friendly spots, namely:
Seminyak/ Kuta/ Legian: Where families enjoy exciting times at the beach, learning to catch waves or stroll along busy shopping streets lined with cafes and boutiques.
Nusa Dua: Which attracts restless families on the lookout for thrilling watersports and clear turquoise waters.
Sanur: As a peaceful refuge from the chaos of other touristy areas, here’s where families with toddlers enjoy calm and shallow waters.
Jimbaran: A paradise for foodie families where you get seafood by the beach while kids enjoy the wild space to run free!
Now come on, where better to yank your children from their all-consuming gadgets and immerse them in everything Bali has to offer? These 14 family beach resorts in South Bali’s top kid-friendly areas offer ultimate fun with kids’ clubs, water slides and more!
Note: The prices reflected below are the low season rates, and they exclude tax and service charges. Accommodation rates often change with room availability, and low or high seasons. We recommend double checking for the final prices before confirming your booking.
For families who like action and shopping
Probably on every first timer’s itinerary, the coastal towns of Seminyak, Kuta and Legian are known to be action-packed spots with interconnected shopping streets and an expansive stretch of beach that is ideal for a beginner surf lesson with the young ones. You’ll find water theme parks the kids will love and you’ll probably dine somewhere new every day, as there’s no lack of restaurants, shops and cafes.

If you’re travelling with kiddos, the 1000-square-metre hotel pool area is a perfect place to laze away your afternoon. This consists of a main pool with two large water slides, a toddler pool, and even a lagoon-style pool that mimics a real beach, complete with white sand and sun loungers.

At the colourful Cening Kids Club, under the supervision of nurturing English-speaking staff, your kids can enjoy movie time, reading, and have lots of fun with a range of toys. If you have slightly older kids, dabbling in Balinese arts and crafts is also a great way to spend an afternoon!
And we all know – happy kids translates to a happy family holiday!2. This resort’s name is even whispered among kids at school gates!: Bali Dynasty Resort
Moms know best, am I right? That’s why most of them opt for a stay at Bali Dynasty Resort when travelling with the kids! The exciting resort located in action-packed Kuta guarantees family-friendly fun in the sun with a collection of exhaustive activities for the kids.
While you’ll have direct access to the beach, perhaps your kids will fancy the pool that comes with a thrilling splash waterslide. It’s quite a set-up they have here and incredibly impressive as the popping primary colours and cartoon characters extend to their Kupu-Kupu Kiddies’ Club that offers a daily programme of fun activities. The best part though is when their caterpillar mascot “Coco” emerges for a fun photoshoot session with the kids at breakfast time!
Food-wise, kids will be in seventh heaven (as will parents!) – you will find an extensive menu with kid-friendly options (including cartoon-inspired dishes) made available for every little picky eater out there, so you can be sure they’ll behave at the table! And now, with their Coco Smart Card, you get to top up an ATM-like card for the kids and let them purchase their meals and other snacks by their own throughout your stay; no more “Mommy can I have this?”!
When it comes to your sleeping arrangements, the well-appointed family room options will give you a large space to relax in while your younger ones nap on their bunk bed behind a sliding door.
Oh and remember telling your partner that having children wouldn’t change your holidays? This could be as close as you’ll ever get to prove it, without actually leaving the little ones at home, as at Bali Dynasty Resort, adults are also entitled to some lavish attention too!
Between swooning away at their onsite Ashoka Spa for a traditional Balinese Massage or setting a sunset date at The Upper Deck at H2O, you’re bound to rekindle romance even on a family vacation, but perhaps you’ll prefer some live entertainment while downing beers at their Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub (they’ve got you covered with babysitters to help when needed)!

12. Great things to do, great food to eat – Prama Sanur Beach Bali
Prama Sanur Beach Bali is located right on Mertasari Beach, where there’s plenty to see and do.
Before we talk about Prama Sanur, let’s talk about 3 potential adventures your kids will enjoy on Mertasari Beach.
Come down to the beach during low tide, and have fun exploring the marina around. Crabs, shells, starfish and more – the kids will get to have fun hands on experiences with marine life.
There’s a great variety of watersports available on the beach if you’re interested. (Prama Sanur provides watersports with RipCurl.)

13. For a laid-back family getaway in the ‘real Bali’ – Hyatt Regency Bali
If you ask me; there’s no better place to escape busy Kuta and Seminyak than a getaway to the tranquil and laid-back Balinese beach town of Sanur.
Everything here seems to be more enjoyable. During my visit, I could feel the real “community” vibes – locals know and simply respect each other. Eventually, I am sure that as a parent, all you ever look for when travelling with kids, is a safe area – that’s exactly what you’re in for when booking a staycation at Hyatt Regency.
There’s an expansive garden for your little ones to run free and tire themselves as well as a fun kids club that runs daily activities – and they aren’t confined to a four-walled room as several activities on their programme are conducted outdoors (Balinese Dance, Pizza Making, Stand Up Paddle and more).
On Sundays, most families reunite around their delectable Sunday Brunch that takes place at their Pizzaria Restaurant, right by the beach. It’s one special time and I’d recommend you to drop by even though you aren’t staying overnight.
Rooms are also super family-friendly with their premium category offering a small green area (perfect for toddlers) while their family suite features partial ocean views and a balcony – it accommodates up to three adults so it’s ideal if you have a teen!
Needless to say, they have a pool too. Oops sorry, I mean… three pools! The kids’ pool comes with a cave and slide. I guarantee you’ll have so much fun!

There are even tennis, volleyball and badminton courts at Resort Mercure Sanur for some fun family playoffs.

Other than that, there’s also a library and an Acoustic Music Bar for you to bring the kids to. For snacks, do try the Roadside Kebab and Crepes available at Peneeda. Something savoury, and something sweet for the perfect mid-day treat.
One fun fact to know: the rooms at Peneeda seem to have this pop art meets traditional Bali vibe. The walls are colourful with different textures and patterns, combined with traditional Balinese fittings and furnishings. It all comes together to create a cheerful environment that lifts your spirits rather unexpectedly.
Lastly, don’t forget to spend some time on the lovely beach, and simply unwind to some well-deserved family bonding
For families who fancy sunset views and seafood feasts
Don’t let the ‘seafood by the beach’ tag fool you, Jimbaran is much more than that. This area offers secluded spots where you get to enjoy some peace while being not too far from the happening side of town. With great dining options, quality resorts and attractions, Jimbaran makes a perfect base if you prefer a quiet location that is of driving distance to other parts of the island.
