1. Get your cowboy on – Tegep Boots (Trans Studio)

Ever wished you could be a cowboy for a day? Do you like the smell of leather? Or maybe you are just a fan of good leather boots?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, be sure to visit Tegep Boots for leather boots (more famously known as Kasut Legen). The price is still within the 3-figure range (in terms of SGD and RM), but for a pair of good quality handmade leather boots, it is still slightly cheaper than in Singapore and Malaysia.

In Malaysia, a pair of good quality Kasut Legen can cost up to RM26,000. All their boots are handmade with limited designs so you’ll be one of the special ones!

P.S. They only use either crocodile skin or cow skin.

Opened since 1942, the shop preserves the unique tradition of hand-making sandals, which are carved with a hint of Sundanese nostalgia that’s rare nowadays.

You can’t say you’ve been to Indonesia for the very first time if you have not bought some local oleh-oleh (which means souvenirs in Bahasa Indonesia).

Take a trip to Sari Millo to grab all kinds of keropok (fried crackers), such as the more familiar rice crackers and the Indonesian specialty keripik tempe.

The best part about Sari Millo? You can choose the pre-packed keropok or you can buy them by the weight, just in case you have an extended family to buy oleh-oleh for. They will even pack it up in a box for you!

Not only do both tourists and locals come here for their leather fix, even President Jokowi of Indonesia shops here too!

Cibaduyut has long been known as the longest leather market in the whole of Asia. So get ready to be intoxicated with the scent of genuine leather as you stroll through this vibrant complex.

While most items may look the same, prices do vary from one store to another, so put your shopping hat and bargaining skills on, it’s time for leather hunting!
