Hidden in the south-western tip of Bali, Uluwatu sure makes a great option for day trips. Perhaps you’ll be heading there to enjoy the majestic Kecak Dance, uncover exotic hidden beaches, bask in glorious clifftop views and enjoy the best beach clubs, and although day trips sound exciting, we’d simply recommend you to opt for a stay in Uluwatu to make the best out of it! I mean, who’d say no to waking up to endless ocean views?!

Of course, if we were to hold on to stereotypes, Uluwatu would be deemed as a destination for weddings, luxury seekers, and celebrities, but if you open your eyes wide (like us), you’d be in seventh heaven! The dreamy coastal town has a collection of stunning budget accommodations too!

The view from the bed, you guys. THE VIEW FROM THE BED! Can you imagine waking up to anything more beautiful (and in Bali, for that matter)?

Still in Uluwatu, you’ll find this hidden gem overlooking the beautiful ocean. A charming place for a romantic getaway or one with the girls, you decide, but did we mention the view from the bed?

Meanwhile, your room doesn’t skip on the eclectic pink, with matching dreamy millennial-coloured cushions and equally colourful murals.

The Elementum is no different, with only eight rooms available, they preach small luxuries. You’ll likely feel like you have the entire place to yourself! With an industrially chic design, as they put it, the modern vibe of this place will have you slowly unwinding with each day of your stay! Days here are best spent in their cool wavy pool and thanks to their kitchen being open for all meals and a lovely rooftop lounge to have your sunset cocktails in!

Beachfront villas are an absolute joy, waking up to the sound of the waves makes your day brighter from the get go, and being able to go to and from the beach within a matter of minutes gives you a sense of freedom.

One of the best beaches for surfing is also one of the cutest little strips of land. So if you’re keen for conscious cafes in between surf breaks, this is where you need to be. Situated right on the cliff overlooking to this beach, you’ll be blessed with unparalleled views of the rolling shores!

14. A tranquil escape atop majestic cliffs: Villa V Uluwatu Suite No. 3

Villa V is unlike any other, perched atop Uluwatu’s famed cliffs, overlooking the majestic blue ocean, you’ll be absolutely dazzled from the moment you enter and get to see the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows!

Breakfast is served every morning, catering to whatever dietary requirements you need, you get a private entrance so despite not being a hotel, you’ll definitely feel like it is.

In fact, you may love that it’s not a hotel, because that means a limited number of rooms, and if you’re lucky you may even get the whole place to yourself!

300 steps will take you straight down to Bingin Beach, where you can laugh, run, and play in the sand before heading back up and resting in your gorgeous modern room.

Where to stay near Balangan beach

15. Get your very own hot tub! – La Cabane

This bungalow is a 10 minute walk from Balangan on foot (the same beach we’ve been raving about this whole time) and is very close to the quieter Biu Biu beach.

Wondering what the decor is like? Well, it’s fully decked out in a swooningly romantic style, has a beautiful private swimming pool, and an open air bathroom.

Yet perhaps the greatest thing about this property is the hot tub, a rare bird in Balinese hotel rooms.

With the whopping potential for romance, this one bedroom bungalow (and hot tub) would be absolutely perfect for couples looking for respite from the normal everyday dreariness.

16. Home away from home: Milo’s Home (from US$81 per night)

This villa may be called Milo’s Home, but at the end of your stay, you’ll wish it’s yours too.

With a small group of 8 bungalows modelled after ancient barns, Milo’s Home has a familial and cosy atmosphere that will quickly have you warming up to its group of staff. This comfortable atmosphere permeates throughout the complex, and is guaranteed to make you feel right at home.

Other than the pretty rooms built from bamboo, Milo’s Home also has beanbags and chairs for you to chill on the breezy terrace. And who can forget the infinity pool, which offers the best vantage point for watching the sunset?

Views from the bungalows look like beautiful paintings, with one of the bungalows even overlooking the entire ocean.

If you ever get tired of just standing at your balcony and staring out to sea – we sure won’t – you can always head down to the Uluwatu Temple or Balangan beach for a surf too! (It’s just a 5-8 min walk! So you don’t have to lug your surfboard around)

One thing’s for sure – you definitely won’t be missing home during your stay at this little haven!

17. Go green: La Joya Biu-Biu (from US$121 per night)

This tiny bungalow in South Kuta is a great choice for the environmentally-friendly traveller – it’s located within the La Joya Biu-Biu resort complex, an eco-friendly establishment.

The loft-style housing, completely built from native materials such as limestones from the area, is a cute alternative from the usual type of architecture.

And the infinity pool offers a sweeping view of the secluded Balangan beach. This beach is also blessed by several surf breaks close at hand that is demanded by all surfers in particular for experience up to professional surfers.

It may be pretty far removed from the rest of civilisation, but this loft is the place for a short weekend beach getaway – just remember to get back to reality when it’s over!

Where to stay near Uluwatu and Suluban beach

18. Peer over the edge of a cliff at one of Bali’s iconic locales: The Clubhouse at Ulu
