Have you been searching for that ideal family beach holiday in Bali?

Just steps away from the beach in south Kuta awaits Bali Dynasty Resort, where every family member, be it young or old, will be very thoroughly entertained with fun-filled activities.

In this exciting family resort, I loved to hear the kids running around, laughing and splashing in the water! Everything is arranged for families to have an amazing time from morning till night. What’s more, your little one gets to be independent with the resort’s newly introduced (as of 2019) ATM Card for kids which you can simply top-up and they’ll be able to make their own purchases!

10 Bali beach resorts with amazing kid pools and water slides

Being a young new mum myself, I know first hand how difficult it sometimes is to trust the safety of my little girl to someone else, especially strangers, but it was reassuring to see with how much care and kindness the kids are guided with from activity to activity. The sight of happy little faces around says it all – kids are safe and happy and I am assured to know that they are well taken care of by the loving and professionally-trained staff.

And the best thing? Most of the activities are included in your room rate without hidden charges, such as the use of facilities, kids’ club and more (which is uncommon in many resorts)! Isn’t it such great value for money to stay here with your kiddos?

The resort is also located in the middle of a bustling neighbourhood in Kuta, near Waterbom (an exciting waterpark) and Discovery Shopping Mall, so you can be sure you won’t ever run out of ideas on how to have fun!

After spending two days at Bali Dynasty Resort, I understand just why this beachfront resort is the ultimate all-inclusive family getaway, and I’m delighted to share my experiences. Here’s 13 reasons why I enjoyed my time at this lovely family resort!

1. Slide down the resort’s very own waterpark!

Which child doesn’t love to splash around in the pool? Besides the main pool, there’s a water playground on-site, too.

Kids will go wild at the Kids Water Fun Zone boasting of multiple slides, including a 56-metre-long caterpillar splash slide where you can race down and plunge into the water one after another. So much fun!

For the younger kids, they will love the colourful water palace with jets, cannons, and giant tipping buckets. There’s nothing better than the sound of laughing kids in the splashing water, if you ask me. It sure sets the perfect family holiday vibe and reminds me of the days when I was a happy little rascal myself.

Little babies can also be gently introduced to some water fun. For the tiniest family member, there is a baby pool with a giant mushroom fountain, where water cascades down into the shallow pool below. Toddlers can also play here!

After their water play, it’s time to take the kids to the outdoor shaded playground with slides, swings, see-saws and more.

2. Check into your sweet family home-away-from-home:

a) Swim up to your family room: Family Lagoon Pool Access Room

I’m not sure if it is the case for you but I’ve seen kids that have a 24/7 need to be in the pool. The moment you check-in at a hotel, they’ll be ready to jump right in. And this also means waking you up at 6am to come and play in the pool too! Perks of being a parent, right?!

So when you find out that you can have a family room with direct pool access at Bali Dynasty Resort, it’ll be exciting for both your little ones and yourself – they would finally have a pool right at the doorstep and you would not need to leave the room at the break of dawn to look after them!

The family lagoon pool access room at the resort is designed with kids in mind and features a safety gate on the terrace; it is also rather homey, not overly contemporary and you can even enjoy views of the pool right from your bed! I feel it is rather intimate too as you do not have to worry about your kids disturbing other guests around since they can scream and shout right in front of your room!

What’s best, you won’t have to book two of those rooms to fit your whole family as it can accommodate up to 5 guests!

b) Enjoy privacy while the kids go wild: Kids Suite and Family Suite

Hear me, there are more than just one room type for families to choose from at Bali Dynasty Resort! Bet this is why it isn’t your typical family resort!

You’ll also find their iconic Kids Suite and Family Suite which are known to be spacious suites that are split into two compartments. In the Kids Suite, you’ll find one master bedroom with a king-size bed for Mom and Dad and one compartment designed especially for the kids with a bunk bed and a pull-out trundle bed, sleeping up to 3 jolly kids beneath the happy Angry Bird blankets.

Before it’s time to tuck the little ones into bed, kids can enjoy a warm bath in the en-suite bathroom, so they will be clean, fresh and ready for a good night’s sleep. There is even a little rubber ducky for them to play with in the tub and brushing their teeth won’t be a problem with the provided toothbrushes and toothpaste specially for kids!

Alternatively, if you’re looking for an even more spacious option, the Family Suite is also an expansive room category which guarantees ultimate privacy for you parents – it features two pull-down beds and a sofa bed in the living area as you enjoy intimate moments in the master bedroom, but it is also equally easy to spend quality time with the little ones as the room configures into one big family compound so morning cuddles aren’t that far away!

3. From treasure hunt to duck-feeding: Have a full day of outdoor activities in the resort!

Keeping the kids busy during the holidays is no easy task, especially if you have more than one to satisfy! Or worse, if you have a toddler versus a teenager, finding each other boring! As a parent, you couldn’t be happier at Bali Dynasty Resort as they offer an array of daily activities for the kids.

Better yet, the activities are conducted outdoors so they aren’t confined to four walls for the whole day – they get to enjoy Bali’s fresh air and roam around the resort as they engage in exciting interactive activities!

One of the most well-loved activities at the resort is their treasure hunt where little ones get to build their very own ‘Alibaba and the Forty Thieves’ story! I personally find it fun to be able to engage with other tiny guests as well as get to know the hotel’s surroundings.

Throughout the day, the team also brings the kids around the resort to feed the fish and ducks! It’s a lovely time for the young ones as kids love interacting with animals!

And without forgetting – older ones will very likely enjoy being signed up for the watermelon eating contest – a fun and messy activity (bonus is that you won’t have to clean any of it!) where they’ll be challenged to eat the most number of watermelons! There goes their fruit intake for the day!

Or else, if they’re keen for some water fun, they can always join the highest splashing contest (I would if I was a kid!) while foodies will have fun making pizza!

4. Sign the kids up for exciting times making new friends: Kupu-Kupu Kiddies’ Club

As a kid, I remember being overly excited about kids club – I was surely overly happy to leave my parents behind and make new friends at the hotel (mostly because my siblings are much older than me)!

It’s an amazing experience to be left by your own as a kid and be able to meet others from all around the world. Don’t miss giving this amazing opportunity to your little ones by signing them up at the Kupu-Kupu Kiddies’ Club – with their ‘enchanted garden’ theme, this is where kids get to play with fairies!

Photo Via Bali Dynasty Resort

There’s a bunch of things to do throughout the day, and no, they won’t even bother shedding a tear as you leave for your pampering day without kids!

In here, your little ones get to immerse in local Balinese culture and learn traditional instruments and dance performances. It’s quite unusual to be able to take part in such activities and I truly appreciate how they’ve introduced culture as part of their activities!

Besides, they also get to enjoy cartoons all day long and get their hands on some crafts as they turn into a beautiful butterfly (don’t worry, it is just face-painting!).

I know it can be hard to trust strangers but don’t worry at all as your kids will be in good hands and bet they’ll want to come back the next day too!

Kupu Kupu Kiddies’ Club & Den’s Teens Club

Both Kupu Kupu Kiddies’ Club and Den’s Teens Club are free of charge for all guests staying at the resort.
Optional babysitting services: Rp. 65,000 per hour (Approximately USD $4.60) for a minimum of 2 hours
Kids programme schedule here.
Opening hours: Mon – Sun 9 am – 6 pm

Note: Kupu Kupu Kiddies’ Club will close at 9 pm on Tuesday and Saturday for Kids Movie Night (additional charge at Rp. 150,000 net (approximately USD $10.75) per kid).

5. Make your picky eater happy with a cartoon-inspired kids’ menu!

When the little bellies start to rumble, it’s time for lunch! Bali Dynasty Resort adds a whole new dimension to a kids’ menu with their Mickey Mouse Pizza and the one-and-only Batman & Robin burger. Surely the littles ones would love a bite of that!

This lucky little girl got to try both, and yes, Daddy was allowed to have a bite of the burger too.

If you have little chefs, don’t let them miss this – make their own Mickey Mouse Pizza at the SEN5ES restaurant. They’ll be dressed up as true pizza bakers, complete with baking hats and aprons! Afterwards, the self-made Mickey Mouse pizza is ready to be munched on!

The kids’ pizza-making lunch costs Rp. 65,000 nett (approximately USD $4.87) and is available every Wednesday.

The kids’ menu is available at all of the dining outlets within the resort and you can be sure that no matter where you decide to dine at, the mini burgers and pizza are as tasty as can be – simple and good, just the way the kids like it!

The Kids’ Menu starts from Rp. 40,000 (Approximately USD $2.85)

6. Check-out an oh-so-very princess and prince high-tea at Cafe Piazza

Something sweet, something hearty and something surprising – you are in for a real treat with a delightful afternoon high tea at Cafe Piazza. Dine in this classic café or get comfy in one of the gazebos situated around the resort’s large peaceful duck pond.

We chose to enjoy the classic high tea in the gazebo and it was wonderful!

Look at that! French croissants with ham and cheese, English scones, cakes and chocolate rolls. It’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the mouth. We loved it till the last crumbs. The afternoon tea also comes with Lipton tea or a cup of coffee of your choice.

And guess what, there’s a little kiddo version too! Don’t let the kids miss out on the special Little Rascals Afternoon Tea with chicken fingers and cupcakes!

For those who like to try out something new, skip the classic afternoon tea and go for the Balinese Afternoon Tea with local sweets and treats such as fried banana, deep-fried coconut prawns and dadar guling (a famous local pandan pancake filled with coconut shreds and palm sugar).

7. Embark on a themed buffet right by the pool at H2O

By now, you sure know that it is never boring at Bali Dynasty Resort. And as the sun sets, it doesn’t mean that the fun has to stop! In fact, the party is just about to get started! Don’t miss coming over to the family-friendly H20 restaurant for a remarkable themed buffet dinner by the pool!

Every night, H20 features a different themed buffet dinner and we were overjoyed to experience their Australian BBQ Dinner – which, by the way, was an absolute feast! Not only was it delicious but also great fun for both parents and children.

There was even live music – a cool musical quartet with contrabass, two guitars, a conga player and a singer, moving from table to table to steal the hearts of kids, Moms and Dads. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience as talented musicians surrounded our dining table while we enjoyed perfectly-grilled goodness!

But be careful, there’s an amazing dessert collection and your kid might well go on a serious sugar rush!

8. Enjoy a family-friendly spa with kids’ treatments: Ashoka Spa

Wow, I couldn’t have felt more relaxed when I awoke from a rejuvenation massage at Ashoka Spa.

This journey of deep relaxation for the body and mind started with a soft tinkling bell, followed by the gentle, warm touch of a professional spa therapist. Soft Balinese music, the sound of rippling water, skilled hands working out all of the tensions in my body… It was truly blissful!

I forgot about everything for a while, until I was brought back to reality with the sound of the same tinkling bell an hour later. After the treatment, I didn’t have to rush out, I could take it easy and was provided with a hot cup of ginger lemon tea, which naturally uplifted the body. I loved it!

Here comes the best part – Ashoka Spa has special family packages too, such as the Mom & Daughter spa package, which starts with a footbath ritual, followed by a traditional Balinese massage and topped off with a facial, manicure or pedicure. Doesn’t it sound ideal for a girls’ bonding session?

9. Go on a sporty date night: Gracie Kelly’s (Irish Pub)

Ahhh date nights! When was the last time you managed to have one, away from the kids? Chances are that it was some couple of years ago?

Before we even begin, let me happily tell you that the resort offers babysitting services so there’s absolutely no reason to skip on a few drinks and fun at the on-site Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub – newly renovated as of March 2019! Don’t get me wrong though – kids are also welcome but an intimate date with your partner doesn’t kill, right?!

The venue is street-front and lets you feel all of Kuta’s lively ambience and atmosphere as you also immerse in vintage-style interiors that are straight-out of Ireland – everything in here is meant to recreate the feels of a typical Irish pub!

As you enjoy peace of mind away from the little ones, you get to indulge in scrumptious food and drinks while being entertained with live music. And why not challenge your partner at the pool table?! The upper area lets you go back in time as you enjoy throwing some darts like real teenager lovebirds!

10. Take your lover on a romantic sunset date with a glimpse of the ocean: The Upper Deck @ H2O

While the kids have an extra long day at the kids’ club with dinner and a popcorn movie evening, you can take the rare opportunity to indulge in some romantic moments with your partner.

Climb up to The Upper Deck of the H20 Restaurant and relax on one of the sofas, while getting ready to watch the sky turn into glorious shades of orange and gold. Don’t worry, the bartender didn’t put any love potion in those striking cocktails, romance is already in the air – you can just feel it! (I know because I had a delicious mocktail and I also felt it!)

With the soft sea breeze in your hair, the enchanting view and presence of your loved one, these are special moments that will stick with you for the rest of your life.

Put your arms around your love, order up some of the great tasting tapas to go with your drinks and let love flow. There is a reason why they call Bali the Island of the Gods – sometimes there is magic in the air, especially during sunset. Now you know!

11. Dip in the main pool, lazy pool, and grab a drink from the sunken pool bar

The main swimming pool is not only huge, but it also has all the elements of a lagoon, with beautiful curves and an exotic cascading waterfall. Here’s also where your kids can have fun with the guided water activities such as volleyball, tug-of-war or pillow fights!

But it gets even better – this lagoon even features a sunken swim-up pool bar where you can relax at after a lovely soak and sip some great tropical cocktails before splashing back into the water again. A strictly kids-free zone, this is where you can try out several cocktails on the menu while the kids are having a blast. Mom and Dad can chill out here and cheer from a distance!

Don’t miss the adults-only Lazy Pool too, which features idyllic spa-style pools with fountains. In this corner of the resort, the ambience is perfectly tranquil and peaceful – perfect for you and your spouse to enjoy some quiet time while the kids are having fun in the Kids’ Club or Kids Water Fun Zone.

Soak in one of the pools together, get your back massaged by the waterfall and soak up the sun on the poolside lounge beds afterwards, with drinks and snacks to go along. This is what holidaying is all about!

12. Try out authentic Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine: Golden Lotus

If there’s something you have to deal when on holiday with kids, it surely is their picky eating habits. Most of the time, they’ll be missing home comfort food and very often, these will be the reasons for their tantrums.

Thankfully, there are tons of dining options to choose from at Bali Dynasty Resort and one that we enjoy the most is their Golden Lotus restaurant! This is where you get to indulge in flavourful Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine while in Bali. In fact, the venue is also popular among non-staying guests as they serve some delectable dim sums on Sundays while you can also enjoy a-la-cart dim sum daily during lunch and dinner!

Stepping into the restaurant is like taking a trip to the Grand Orient as the interiors are decorated with traditional Chinese features such as lanterns, carpets and beautiful ceramic sets.

What’s more, the portions here are quite generous so that makes it even more perfect for families, especially if you have some serious foodie members! Order from the set menu and your table will be filled with plenty of mouthwatering Chinese dishes you can share with the whole family. Everything tastes as good as it looks – we know because we tasted everything!
