So you’ve finally bought your tickets to Bali and you’re beyond excited. You should be! You’re about to explore one of Asia’s top destinations! I travel to Bali pretty frequently (a few trips a year) and I know exactly how you feel. You’ll spend days packing up your prettiest summer dresses for the Gram and obviously forget about getting your brows or bikini wax done 🤷🏻‍♀️. Priorities, right?!

But hey, that’s alright… Been there, done that! In fact, this is a good reason to venture around and immerse in Bali’s beauty scene and test out some of their beauty spots to get pretty and trendy nails as well as clean and clear skin and fewer hairs over your body!

So besides making use of my face sheet masks stock, I often look out for places to get value-for-money beauty treatments while in Bali (often with experts coming from all around the world!) and I think it’s a fun way to roam around the island, especially if on a girls’ trip! So babes, here’s where you can get head-to-toe treatments and be ready for some good beach club hopping!

Note: All beauty treatments listed below are non-invasive treatments only; you may also wish to get your skin sensitivity tested prior to treatments!

Nails

What’s the point of getting your nails done before your vacation and heading to the airport, dragging your luggage and risking your nails growing out or the polish peeling?! Here’s where you can get pretty nail art designs with a gel manicure (which also means no chipped nails in your #Balivacay pics!).

1. You can even order lunch and coffee from this nail spot!: Nail Bar Bali

This used to be my go-to spot while I was in Bali for a couple of months. Mostly because it was affordable but also walking distance to where I was staying.

They have an array of pretty colours to choose from (hardest choice ever!) and I often opted for their acrylic extensions which lasted for over three weeks, as compared to those I’ve had before (yes, they resist several trips to the beach and dips in the pool too!). The staff is trained by Russian nail artists, and they surprisingly can draw anything you want on your nails!

2. Where to have a whole spa-like treatment for your nails (soak, bath and more!): Maria Curau

I’d highly recommend this place if you’re travelling on a special occasion or with your besties. Mari a Curau offers signature treatments for your nails with soaks, baths, oil applications, exfoliating, massage and nail polish. Yes, your nails deserve all of that!

They’re also kid-friendly so your mini-me can have her own nail treatment too! I absolutely love their nail art designs that quite have the abstract, minimalist feels and gypsy vibes with colourful geometrics (no wonder it is located in Bali’s hipster spot – Canggu!) along with the kombucha and cold towel offered on arrival.

3. Bringing you personalised nail art!: Her Spot

If you too are bored with the typical frangipani flower nail art, don’t miss signing up for a manicure at Her Spot. In here, nail art designs are nothing mainstream as you get to customize them. I personally love to check out some inspiration from Pinterest! And from their recent pictures, I can tell they’ve also jumped on the latest trend of brush stroke nails! 🤩

Facials

Dream of insanely smooth, bright, glowing skin for the holidays? Spare some time to get a facial while in Bali. I’ve got quite a couple of them and tried different places and I am very happy to share those hidden gems with all babes out there so you can fight all pimples while vacationing (yes, travelling does cause breakouts!).

As a girl-to-girl tip, let me tell you that you should NEVER feel guilty about treating yourself to a facial.

4. Book yourself a game-changing affordable facial (it helps with acne too!): Natasha Skin Clinic Centre

On my first visit to Natasha Skin Clinic Centre, I could already see the instant and long-lasting results of the facial on my skin condition.

With the unhealthy lifestyle we city-dwellers have (be it the food or air pollution etc.), having perfectly clear skin has become a real challenge. This is especially so for travel writers like me, who are constantly on the go! After my first time at Natasha’s, I ended up returning there every month whenever I return to Bali! The standard facial package is my go-to, where the dermatologist will give you advice and recommend you different options based on your skin type and condition.

From there, the staff will use the machines to carry out treatments like healing touch in the shared rooms. I’m not gonna lie, the facials can get painful sometimes, but the thought of the extraction ridding your skin of the dirt and the 5-star treatment after that with soothing serums always helps me to pull through 🙂The best part is that they even sell their own line of beauty products, with the face wash being my favourite! Be it makeup, haircare, or an all-natural product line, they’ve definitely got it covered!

Note: This is a local’s secret so the staff can barely speak English, but you can show them which treatment you want from the brochure.

5. When you really, badly need to save your face!!: Jet Black Ginger

I fell in love with this spot while I was spending a couple of weeks in Canggu (it was recommended to me by a few other digital nomads who well seem like real beauty gurus).

First I went for a haircut, then a facial and lastly came back for a manicure. They’re just good at everything they do, seriously – you get what you pay for with quality services! But, getting back to the facial part – if you’re keen for an instant glowy skin that’ll get your haters jealous, check out their Microdermabrasion treatment. I don’t think my skin had ever looked that good!

Recently, I have also heard that they’ve introduced a new facial treatment on their menu – the oxygen facial that promotes collagen growth so that’s another good reason to book yet another flight to Bali (BRB, adding leave to my calendar!).

The spot is literally an all-day hangout venue for some killer head-to-toe treatments and they’re also known to master hair colouring. Plus, the interiors are super Instagrammable so girls get ready to be pampered in style!

6. Brush your face with gold: Goldust Beauty Lounge

Who says only diamonds are a girl’s best friend? Next in line would be all that glitters – real gold. Imagine caking your face in a gold mask. How lavish can it get? (And that can start getting you to think: how many carats?)

At the Goldust Beauty Lounge, you must not miss its signature treatment – the 24-Carat Gold Facial, during which you will have sheets of gold applied on your face, which apparently lowers collagen depletion, stimulates circulation and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Eyebrows, eyelashes and waxing/sugaring

We’re quite the demanding, indecisive type, aren’t we? We want more hairs here and none there, thicker eyebrows, longer eyelashes and nothing on the armpits or legs… But hey, I get you so here’s a few spots to defuzz (or not) at! Bonus as you get to pack less (leave mascara, eyelash curler, eyebrow pencil and razors back home!).

7. Where to have your dream brows done: Eyebrow Bali

So you’ve got tiny brows? Whether you can blame it on your over-plucking (guilty!) or on your genes (thanks, mama), you’ve now got two options:
1. Happily accept your brows as they are, or
2. Make them look on fleek with a microblading session at Eyebrow Bali.

If I have not personally tried them out, I sure did hear positive reviews about their services. You’ll sign up for a natural look as the therapist fill in your overly-plucked eyebrows and give them a full and flawless look. Other treatments include eyeliner and lip embroidery but they do ace shaping your arches in a quick session (don’t forget to drop by for touch-ups before flying back home!).

8. Forgot your mascara? Eyelash extension it is!: Glo Day Spa

We all love a good waterproof mascara and curler but sometimes we might need help from eyelashes magicians like the ones at Glo Day Spa. I’ve come across them while looking for a place to get some eyebrow threading done while in Bali so this is how I read about all their awesome reviews regarding their eyelash extensions.

Photo Via Sasha_navetnaya

Apparently, you’ll ditch your forever loved Maybelline Great Lash mascara after getting your eyelashes fixed at Glo Day Spa. The experts here will add on more lashes per eye – the extensions are made from silk fibres with are individually applied to each lash using a gentle yet long-lasting adhesive. Be ready to turn your most sparse of lashes into a flirtatious set of peepers (of course, you can ask for a more natural look!). You won’t stop winking!!

9. If you want to give up on your orangutan look!: Búlu Waxing Hut

“I love how pricky your legs feel”, said no one ever! I enjoy a good waxing session when I find the time (otherwise, I’ll rely on my good old travel-friendly razor that does quite the job). So whenever I have some free time in Bali, I would book myself a waxing session as it’s always leg season on the island!

If you want to look clean and fresh and rock your summer dresses, swimsuits and shorts, drop by Búlu Waxing Hut. When I do the math, waxing saved me a lot of time while travelling as it keeps dem legs smooth and stubble-free for weeks on end!

Photo Via Annekejd, Igawinda

At Búlu Waxing Hut, you’ll find various waxing services depending on which body part you want to be hair-free. Their signature Skinny Dip (I like the sound of that!) is an all-body package which does just good when you’ve packed your sexiest bikini and want to give up on the furry animal look!

10. You’ll give up on waxing and shaving after trying out sugaring!: HiSUGARS

Trust me, once you step out of here you’ll go “I tried sugaring and I’ll never get back to waxing again!”. I sure do love how waxing makes my skin so clear but I am never quite mentally ready to put up with the pain; I mean is it worth being in so much pain just for the sake of having absolutely no hairs on my body? Hell no!

This is exactly how I found out about sugaring, an alternative to waxing and shaving. So if you want to skip all waxing-related trauma and not willing to bear such pain while on vacation you can try out a sugaring session at HiSUGARS.

For those of you who are unsure about the process, sugaring is a hair removal technique that uses an all-natural paste to pull off body hair (it originates from Egypt and Middle East countries). If you have sensitive skin like me, this is a good option for you. My skin tends to react badly to waxing and I found sugaring to be gentler on my skin type.

HiSUGARS

Price range: From Rp. 145,000 for half arms (Approximately USD $10)
