Are you dreaming of lagoon swimming pools with waterfalls and water slides? Can’t stop thinking about mesmerizing ocean views from your bedroom? Feel like taking your family and float away in a bubble of love on some tropical island and preferably in a 5-star resort?

My little family and I spent a weekend at The Hilton Bali Resort in Nusa Dua and it was just what we needed (like what every family needs!). Here, you place your family’s comforts in a trusted brand where you can be sure of the ‘Hilton Quality Treatment’. And this Nusa Dua property has got something extra special!

This baby sits atop a 40-metre-high ocean cliff in the south of Bali with elevators taking you 15 floors down to the foot of the cliff, where you can stroll around in a sprawling beachfront ‘Garden of Eden’, with a large lagoon swimming pool, jacuzzi, hammocks, and a stunning white sandy shore bordering the clearest blue ocean with perfect surfing waves.

We got to enjoy ocean views from our room on the clifftop, had so much fun at the coolest jungle-themed kids’ club and we couldn’t get enough of the sparkly swimming pools with waterslides that both my baby daughter and husband loved. This was truly one of our most memorable family stays so far!

1. Check into your little family mansion with ocean view: Cliff Tower Ocean View Room

Upon arrival at Hilton Bali Resort, we were stunned by the awe-inspiring ocean views! I couldn’t wait to check into our Cliff Tower Ocean View room to admire the spectacular views of the sea, the sky, Nusa Lembongan and Mount Agung.

All the Cliff Tower suites and rooms have recently been refurbished, giving guests a fresh new look with new furnishings and a touch of Indonesian culture.

The Hilton brand stands for quality, luxury and family-friendliness, and those are the main reasons why families from all over the world keep coming back to the Hilton hotels everywhere around the world. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and they adored my little one (which this proud momma adores right back, of course!).

The check-in went smoothly and off we went down the limestone cliff on the speedy elevators, and straight to our Cliff Tower Ocean View King Room, which boasts unobstructed sea views from the bed, bath and our private balcony. Splendid! The suite was decadent and luxurious, styled beautifully with Balinese elements.

Standing on the balcony and overlooking the beach and resort, I couldn’t wait to get down to the bottom of the cliff and take my little one for a swim in the stunning lagoon pool. But first things first – time for a family pillow fight!

The Cliff Tower Ocean View King Room features a huge bed, big enough to fit all 3 of us. (There are baby cots available upon request). There is a huge flat-screen TV with international movie channels, a sofa, reading chairs, generous wardrobes and an opulent bathroom with rain shower and a deep bathtub.

We also loved the large soaking bathtub and we had a very good night rest to the sound of the sea. There is nothing more calming than that! We all slept like babies. 🙂

The buffet breakfast at Grain was yet another highlight of our clifftop getaway! So many choices and everything is of the highest quality. For me, the breakfast alone is a reason to come and stay here. The buffet has everything you could possibly wish for. I loved the coconut yoghurt and greek yoghurt with nuts, seeds and homemade jam. I also had a little scoop of nutella, munched on all sorts of cheeses but the good stuff goes on and on. There is an egg station, pancakes & waffles corner, there is Indian food and Indonesian food – if only I could eat more…

2. Have a family meal reunion aboard a ship: The Shore Restaurant

Are you a fan of oceanfront dining? I sure am! At the onsite The Shore Restaurant, you can enjoy delicious meals to the view of the ocean, and the restaurant is perfectly family-friendly too! This unique three-storey beachfront restaurant is shaped like a boat so you can actually dine aboard a ship!

We sat on the deck for a delightful family brunch in between the swimming and sliding under Bali’s heavenly blue sky. Warm sunshine, a soft sea breeze, gorgeous sea views and crayons that kept Jingga, our little one, entertained. It was perfect!

The kids menu includes all the favourites: spaghetti meatballs, hamburgers, fish and chips and pizza, but also healthy stuff and new things to try such as barramundi fish, smoked chicken sandwich, salad bowls and fruit salads. This will get your little ones to eat alright!

Jingga loved the fries (of course) and the spaghetti! She also couldn’t get enough of the coconuts which is great as they are super healthy and super hydrating. Just what every kid needs when spending the day under the sun and in the pool. One less worry for us Moms!

Not only was my dish very tasty but I loved the way it was presented. Almost too pretty to eat!

We didn’t try this ourselves, but if you have a hungry family to feed, why not opt for the shareable meal packages, including pizza, Nasi Goreng, fries, ice-cream and a jug of ice tea. All at just Rp.580,000 nett (approximately USD 41)!

Do come in for sunset cocktails during Happy Hour. We were a bit naughty, having cocktails way before sunset, but what I can tell you is that they are superb! I had the Pink Sand (a gorgeous blend of tequila), Campari (grenadine and soursop juice) and they were absolutely delicious! The perfect balance between sweet and bitter and oh so pretty! Andry, my husband, went for the Blue Crab (tequila, triple sec, lime fruit and sprite) – also pretty darn good!

3. Sign the kids up for a magical experience!: Jungle Kids Club

Bursting with energy and always ready to jump, bounce, swing and run around, kids need to be entertained all day every day, and while on holiday this can be challenging. And for us, hardworking Moms and Dads, we could do with a little break sometimes!

Drop your kids at the on-site Jungle Kids Club and they are bound to have fun for hours on end in a safe environment while parents can go get a massage, enjoy a romantic lunch or sip cocktails at the pool bar.

Games, books, toys, dress-up costumes, crafts and loving staff to look after our little ones – isn’t that all we need? It gets even better! The indoors area extends to a shady and sandy outdoor playground with treehouses, an 8-metre-tall climbing wall, slides, ropes and a huge trampoline. Kids can bounce around here all day long, make friends and get the hang of rock climbing. Now, Jingga is only a little baby girl, barely two years old, but she loved bouncing around on the trampoline (and so did I!).

The amazing staff got her dressed up in traditional Balinese clothing and we got to try out some Balinese dance moves. So adorable! She was still a bit too young to get the hang of Balinese dancing but my god, how cute she looked in that outfit!

For older kids, the Balinese dance class will be super fun and it introduces them to the local culture at the same time. There are activities for kids every day and most of them are free of charge! Think Balinese arts and crafts, swimming and snorkelling lessons, kite-making, Balinese music-making, crab-hunting and many more.

Older kids and teens will love the indoor mezzanine lounge with bean bags, TV and game consoles.

If required, the friendly staff can help to order lunch for your kids from The Shore’s kids’ menu.

4. Explore the expansive beachfront paradise garden with multiple pools and conquer the 30-metre-long waterslide!

The Hilton Bali Resort really is a tropical paradise for the young and old! From the sandy lagoon pool to the kids’ pool and kids’ waterslide, jetted tubs, in-water lounge beds, pool bar, waterfall to the 30-metre-long waterslide, you’ll have no lack of water fun for the whole family.

We spent nearly the entire day moving from pool to pool, starting from the sandy lagoon where Jingga could safely play with sand and water. She definitely had fun at the kiddies pool and the little slide with traditional Balinese design.

Then, it was time to overcome our fears to conquer the 30-metre-long water slide. I raced down too fast to snap a photo and Andry went after me. We had a blast!

You can bring your own Instagrammable floatie, which we did, and we enjoyed chilling on the back of our loyal unicorn. In fact, this was so relaxing that it made Jingga fall asleep! We put her in the stroller and while a nanny sat by her side, my husband and I went to order some well-deserved tropical cocktails and we enjoyed them in the pool. Pure bliss!

I also took a dive in the ocean, being a beach-kind-of-girl and all. It really is a stunning beach and not crowded at all, which makes it more attractive than the other beaches in Nusa Dua and the Bukit Peninsula. Soft white sand, clean and clear turquoise waters, surfing waves and awe-inspiring views of Mount Agung and Nusa Lembongan. This is my kind of beach!

5. Whip up your homemade family dinner in a cooking class

This was the first time in my life grilling prawns and a red snapper myself, but I must say it was great fun! The cooking class took place at Taman Sari Clifftop Garden, right next to Paon Bali Resto & Bar, on a grassy lawn that overlooks the ocean. Spectacular!

Photo Via TripCanvas

We chopped and chopped and chopped some more (Indonesian cooking involves a lot of chopping!). Jingga watched us do the hard work and when she got bored, she played with her toys on the green grass. Surely, the fire got her attention when it was time to start grilling!

Our culinary efforts were rewarded with a lovely home-cooked Indonesian dinner, with a majestic view of the Indian Ocean. Not bad at all!

Cooking Class

Morning session: Rp. 1,500,000 nett (approximately USD $107). Includes a visit to the traditional fish market in Jimbaran, free-flow water and a 3-course meal.
Afternoon session: Rp. 1,600,000 nett (approximately USD $113). Includes free-flow water, a candlelit ocean view dinner for two and a glass of house wine.

6. Save the night for a beachfront romantic dinner

While we were totally up for that ultimate romantic beachfront dinner for the two of us, complete with candlelights, flowers, moonshine, stars in the night sky and a bottle of house wine, unfortunately the weather or perhaps the Gods of Bali had different plans. In the evening, dark clouds and heavy rain invaded the clear blue sky and blew our chances for the magical private beachfront dinner we were booked in for. We had to cancel it as it was outdoors. 🙁 Tough luck!

Photo Via Sassychris1

Ahh well, we will come back for it one of these days! Instead, we had dinner at Paon Bali Resto & Bar which was also delightful!

Luckily, I love cuddling up in bed after dinner with my two favourite people in the world. Jingga was pretty tired after all of that fun earlier today, swimming, sliding, bouncing and playing. She fell asleep gracefully after a warm bath in our clifftop room. My husband and I also snuggled beneath the blankets, watched some Game of Thrones and slept on lovely memories of this family stay at Hilton Bali Resort.

There is something so relaxing about sleeping to the sound of raindrops and the roaring ocean. So majestic! In the morning, the sky was blue again, with the sun shining on our balcony.

Perhaps you will be luckier than we were and you can have that beachfront dinner with your loved one during your stay at Hilton Bali Resort. I wouldn’t miss it if I were you!

Romantic Escapade

Prices: From Rp. 2,400,000 nett per couple (approximately USD $170) for a 3-course private beachfront dinner with a glass of house wine.

What I loved from my stay

We had a most wonderful clifftop oceanfront holiday at Hilton Bali Resort! It’s hard to say what I loved most from our weekend getaway. Was it those precious family moments in the lagoon and in our cliff tower room? The heavenly breakfast buffet or those ocean views that took our breath away everywhere we went? Most of all, it was a perfect blend of relaxation and activities. There was plenty of family fun but also time for me and Andry as a couple.

Even now, I can’t stop thinking about the lovely pools, the fun waterslides that Jingga loved so much, the awesome kids’ club with wonderful staff, and of course, our private decadent ocean view luxury suite… I can’t wait to be back again!
