1. It’s an Ibiza party in Jakarta! – Langit Seduh Coffee

Ibiza is famous for its beaches and pool parties, and with the swimming pool, fairy lights and festive atmosphere at this rooftop cafe, it’s exactly like what you’d imagine to experience at the Spanish island. They have live music playing every day from 8pm to 11pm and the city view looks stunning from here, especially at night when neighbouring buildings light up.

While you’re here, try their diverse food menu, consisting of Western and Indonesian dishes such as Pizza Margarita and Mie Tik Tok Jawa. They also have light bites like Fish Fingers and Siomay, in case you’re here on an afternoon, as well as classic dessert items like Pisang Goreng Keju and Roti Bakar.

2. Colonial-inspired cafe that feels like you’re in Greece – Sudoet Tjerita

Want to hang out with your favourite girls and take aesthetic pictures that’ll glam up your feed? Then look no further than Sudoet Tjerita, the epitome of trendy cafes in North Jakarta.

This all-white, colonial-themed cafe with Bohemian and Grecian vibes looks so picturesque that you’d most likely be spending a good hour just snapping your hearts out.

And if you love their rooftop as much as us, you can opt to sit at one of the seats there while enjoying their Truffle Bacon Carbonara, Snowy Souffle Pancake or other food dishes. Remember to get one of their colourful drinks to freshen you up too, such as their purple Romantic Berry Yoghurt and blue Tropical Butterfly Pea.

3. Urban garden cafe in the heart of Jakarta – Up All Might

Not much of a plant person? This cafe might just do the trick, with a minimal amount of plants placed only at the outdoor seating area. But with its green-and-brown colour scheme, even the indoors still feels cool and calming (Tip: those averse to plants can opt to sit indoors).

They offer heavy meals such as Wagyu Rice Bowl and Asian Chicken Salad, but if you’re just looking for something light, they offer snacks like Chicken Karaage and caffeinated and non-coffee beverages.

4. The ultimate hang out cafe for people on a budget – Warbox Condet

You might not get a nice Jakarta skyline view from this rooftop cafe (it’s located on the top of a container cafe), however, it’s the perfect place to hang out with your close friends at. Its small size means it won’t be able to accommodate a large group, great for those looking for a cosy gathering spot. And with trees providing shade for cafe-goers here, you won’t feel the scorching heat even when chilling here during the day.

Its affordable menu offerings also mean even students can enjoy their time here without worrying about spending too much money, offering delicious food all Indonesians love like Roti Bakar and Indomie (cooked in various styles). But if you’re not much of an eater, they also sell drinks like Fruit Punch and Thai Tea.

5. Your backyard cafe on the top of Jakarta – Hause Rooftop

This place is where you want to be on a slow afternoon, just spending a good time with your friends or bae while having delicious food and drinks and waiting for the sun to set. And when it gets dark, the fairy lights will turn on, making the entire spot feel super magical.

In fact, with loads of potted plants and patio tables at the outdoor area, you’ll feel like you’re chilling in your backyard (sans the majestic city view). Add a signature cocktail like Glass Hauss, Red Velvet cake or something heartier like Pan Seared Salmon and you’ll never want to leave this place.

6. Minimalistic sports cafe in Jakarta – Elarte Cafe

Just need a place to cool down without the fancy decorations? Then head over to Elarte Cafe. Although it’s a sports cafe for bikers, non-bikers can feel free to come over and get a drink or two and enjoy the city vibe at their rooftop.

There aren’t many chairs here, however, feel free to sit anywhere since the entire floor is carpeted with fake grass. In fact, a popular spot for cafe goers is the sloping floor overlooked by a high-rise building (it’s a hot photo-spot!).

Note: This cafe only accepts customers who’ve reserved beforehand as per August 13. Please inform via Instagram or call at least 90mins before your arrival and arrive 10mins before the booked time.

7. A toast on top of the world?! – Roti Bakar Kemang

This four-storey cafe might have “Roti Bakar” (Toast) in its name, but that’s not all they have to offer. Other than the various types of sweet and savoury toasts (up for Tiramisu Toast or Corned Beef with Egg Toast?), they also have heartier items like Fried Rice and everyone’s favourite Indomie.

With delicious food and a modern space to spend your time at, there’s no wonder if you’ll never want to leave this place.

Tip: Sit on the third or fourth floor for a more Instagrammable seating spot (but note that it’s an open-air area). 

8. The perfect spot to wind down with your loved ones – Rocketz Cafe

Whether you’re here for its tranquil atmosphere (despite it being in the city centre) or delicious food, you’ll have all your five senses pleased here. From your taste buds, you’ll be surprised how delicious the food is despite its affordable price – visitors have recommended their Nasi Goreng Rockets. They also have other dishes, including Louisana Chicken Pasta and Onion Rings.

Since it’s on a rooftop, you’ll also be able to relish the breeze and Jakarta view from up high – an experience you won’t be able to enjoy in your usual cafes.

9. Just your everyday hang out or work spot – Onthree

Located on the third floor of a residential building, this modern-style cafe is just perfect for those looking for a quiet spot to chit-chat with friends or work casually.

We especially love their grey and orange rattan chairs, easily brightening up the entire outdoor area! But those preferring a more enclosed space can opt to sit indoors instead, where sofas and wider tables await you.

If you’re feeling hungry, they offer both main courses and snacks such as Chilli Cheese Fries and Salmon Mentai Don. Or else, quench your thirst with their drinks, including Avocado Coffee Float and Lychee Ice Tea.

10. Not your ordinary rooftop date – Upstairs Rooftop Cafe

Looking for an affordable, romantic date spot? With both indoor and outdoor seating options and a not-so-vast space, Upstairs Rooftop Cafe is perfect for intimate dates. And come nighttime, this place turns utterly dreamy due to the lights around the cafe, setting the mood just right for your date.

It might not be a candlelight dinner, but it’s appetising Asian and Western meals more than make up for it – offering dishes like Striploin Steak to Black Pepper Beef. Its drinks menu will also delight you, ranging from mocktails and beers to smoothies and coffee.

11. A taste of Bali in Jakarta’s sky – Sky Garden Cafe

You might not be able to go to Bali now, but the greens, wooden hut and lights here will satiate your longing for the Bali beaches. In fact, they remind me of one of the beach cafes in Nusa Dua sans water and sand.

Whether you’re here for a romantic date or a friendly gathering, remember to try their selection of Asian and Western dishes from Mie Jawa and Butter Rice to Carbonara Pasta and Spicy Tuna Pizza and end it with a glass of smoothie or juice.

12. It’s Paella and Taco time! – ¿Por Qué No?

Different from the other cafes on this list, you’ll find an entire range of only Spanish food here from appetizers like Papas Fritas to mains like Paella and Croquettes. They even have desserts like Churros as well as a wide range of spirits and cocktails perfect for night outs with friends.

There are both outdoor and indoor seating areas, so whether you enjoy the open-air or air conditioner, everyone is ensured to have a great time here!

Despite the entire place decked with flowers and greens, believe it or not, you’ll only be able to find Indonesian-style noodles at this rooftop cafe and we seriously love it. And with each one served in takeout boxes, it makes it really simple to eat – you can easily eat it while standing or sitting while holding the box on one hand.
