If you’re looking for a true getaway in busy Jakarta that’s both comfortable and affordable, welcome to DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta-Diponegoro.
The hotel is located right smack in the middle of everything, within easy distance to shopping malls, markets and restaurants – but most importantly, still situated away from the infamous Jakarta traffic. Its convenient location makes it one of the best choices to be based at in Jakarta, to dip out and explore places around easily – such as the unique themed restaurants we’ve recommended below.
This hotel is where you’ll enjoy the perfect getaway, with its gorgeous rooms (with great views of the city) and one of the largest lagoon swimming pools in Jakarta for those lazy days – don’t miss the fabulous island bar in the middle of the pool!

Of course, you can’t really enter Hogwarts without going through Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station – just remember to take a photo of this iconic spot!
And once you’re finally in the wizarding world, how could you not pay a visit to Three Broomsticks in Diagon Alley and try their Butterbeer, Polyjuice Potion, or Mad-Eye Potion?
After all the photos and food, don’t forget to practise your spells to combat Voldemort! ‘Wingardium Leviosa’, ‘Avada Kedavra’, ‘Expelliarmus’ – have you mastered them all?

Although it only serves light snacks and beverages, we bet the fresh air and greenery here will feed your mind and soul!

3. Soar with adorable mythical creatures – Miss Unicorn Café
Have you always wanted to dine in a fantasyland where you can play with unicorns? At Miss Unicorn Café, you can now travel to a world of endless possibilities, where unicorns do exist!
If your friends often complain that you’re childish, it’s time to… prove them right! Set your inner child free and let your imagination run wild with the unicorns flying on the ceiling, resting on the sofa, or peeking out from behind the wall in this pink wonderland.
Don’t hold back, rent a unicorn suit and join the herd – now you’re just as magical as these mythical creatures (take that, mature friends)!
Well, there’s nothing fun about being a famished unicorn, so don’t forget to fuel up with their rainbow spaghetti or milkshakes.
But! Every world has its own rules and Miss Unicorn is no exception, so here are some things you should know before coming:
– Every patron is required to order at least one food, drink and dessert.
– There are only eight seats here so you might be placed on a waitlist during peak hours.
– Make sure this wonderland is not booked for private events.
Prance away, little unicorn!
4. Hop aboard a jet plane – Taman Santap Rumah Kayu Ancol
Here, you can enjoy fine dining in a plane, without forking out a hefty sum for a first class ticket!
Taman Santap Rumah Kayu Ancol offers a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience, courtesy of the authentic airplane that sits in the restaurant’s lush garden.
The plane makes a great backdrop for all family photos, regardless of whether you’re dining in the garden or in the plane itself.
To keep the energetic little ones in check, just promise them a visit to the cockpit after they finish up their food!
Food-wise, the main draw here is seafood – the grilled shrimp is irresistibly scrumptious, while their puddings will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Before getting your head lost too far up in the clouds, keep in mind that if you want to actually dine inside the airplane, you need to have a minimum order of Rp. 650,000 (approximately USD $49). Worth it, we say.

We wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve been to cat or dog cafés, but have you tried hanging out in a café full of bunnies that are so fluffy, you’re gonna die?!
My BunBun Rabbit Café is where all your rabbit fantasies will come true! ‘Lettuce’ (hare hare) tell you why – not only do you get to pet real-life rabbits, but all the food and decor here are also bunny-inspired. To put it simply, you’ll be in a bunny wonderland!
There are around seven or eight rabbits here and they’re all different breeds, so you’ll get to meet rabbits with different features. Some of the most popular bunnies here are Rambo the Holland Lop and Pompom the Lionhead – so don’t forget to grab a paw shake with these superstars!
And if bunnies alone aren’t enough to impress your cold little heart, you’ll be surprised to find out that this café is also home to two marmots, two chinchillas, and 10 hamsters! If you have your own rabbit or other small-sized pet, feel free to bring them here so they can play with this little pet family!

19. Be transported into Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife – KANPAI!
KANPAI! is currently closed for renovations. We will update this space when this restaurant has reopened.
Why go to Tokyo when KANPAI! can bring Tokyo right to your doorstep?
The newest kid on the block at Pantai Indah Kapuk, KANPAI! is probably one of the most raved-about eateries in town that actually manages to bring the vibrant Kyoto-style nightlife to Jakarta!
Settle back in a cool, dark atmosphere lit up by flashy neon lights as you watch the chef display his stunning culinary skills from the open kitchen. Here, you can even enjoy the illusion of outdoor dining (without feeling the heat!), thanks to the little green canopy above the kitchen.
We almost feel like this restaurant should be named ‘Say Cheese!’ instead, since every single spot here is just so photogenic. Don’t forget to check out the restaurant’s signature spot, where they have recreated Kyoto’s Fox Shrine with dozens of red poles covered in Kanji letters. KANPAI!’s dedication to recreating Japanese wonders in a bar is really outstanding!
We recommend that you visit the bar after nightfall, since this is when the nightlife starts to heat up. Remember, the only rule here is no rules – so bring out your best swagger and snap away!
